DSA Poem

HAIL TO THE DEAF SENIOR CITIZENS

 By Robert F. Panara

Hail to the Deaf Senior Citizens
Who sign it loud and clear
“Deaf Seniors can do anything,
Yes, anything but to hear!”

From every state in the U.S.A.
And other countries, too.
Deaf Seniors come to congregate
With friends both old and new.

It all began in the Lone Star State
(which “Deaf Smith” helped unite)
When eight hundred folks did register
With their founder, Ralph C. White

From every walk of life they come
To Workshops by the score.
They may be deaf but not so dumb
To keep on learning more!

They’ve paid their dues to the NAD
And also  to the “FRAT.”
But now they’re into AARP,
Mall-walking, and losing fat!

With all the new technology
Just at their fingertips
They’re now reversing history
“Old dogs can learn new tricks!”

May they live each day to rise and shine
And enjoy their “sunset years”
And look forward to Convention time
When they share their laughs and tears!
