Biennial Gala

The Baystate Deaf Senior Citizens (BDSC) and Central Massachusetts Deaf Senior Citizens (CMDSC) are coordinating the Biennial Gala of the New England Home for the Deaf (NEHD) at NEHD Community Hall in Danvers. MA.  The gala will be held on Friday May 14.  The two host organizations will offer dinner and entertainment for the deaf and deaf/blind senior citizens.

The purpose of this Gala is to raise the funds to support NEHD because with the current economy and the near certainty of state and federal budget cuts, the 108-year-old organization is facing the most serious threat ever to its survival.  Dr. Zeltzer, Exeutive Director, stated that the NEHD’s ability to continue caring for deaf and deaf/blind elders depends more than ever from the business community. 

Over the years NEHD have grown and the campus now offers a continuum of care, which includes Independent Living, Rest Home, Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation, In-House Hospice Care, and Regional Deaf Senior Centers across the state.
