Board Meeting Highlights

The Board members had long looked forward to sunny and warm Phoenix as the second Board meeting site.  To our dismay, most of us froze.  However, many of us chose to use some personal time and stayed a few more days with friends—and it got warm!

This was indeed a working board: reviewing documents, editing and discussing strategies to get more things done.  Some of the actions taken are as follows:

·         DSA may consider placing advertisements with and/or donating only to organizations related to Deaf Senior Citizens.

·         DSA will donate $100 to New England Home for the Aged Deaf in Massachusetts in view of the series of explosions which forced evacuation of the residents.

·         The Media committee will resume its work on the brochure for DSA and the DSA website will be redesigned, that displays will reflect the website design; and the Media committee will seek other web hosting service.

·         A letter will be written to AARP to encourage them to close-caption their TV commercials for the benefit of deaf senior citizens.

In addition, the Board heard out the 2009 DSA/LV Conference committee members.  They reported on progress being made.  Questions were answered and the President then informed the committee members that we would be informing them soon as to what would be needed.

As for Orlando, everything seems to be going well.  The board is also trying to decide what the forum focus should be.  A simple evaluation of the conference will be distributed to you.  This will assist DSA in designing the Conference to better meet your needs.

As soon as the minutes are approved, they will be shared with you.
